I'm so bad lately!

We've been busy busy busy.

I've been planning the new school year and I'm almost ready for the purchase part. That is always the most exciting (and often nerve wracking) part of the school year. And then the boxes start arriving and you get to go buy new school supplies... sigh, it is just bliss.

Or, I'm a weirdo... that's also possible. lol

Things are going well in Casa de Fibres.

I'm having a website made, that's my big news. WOOHOO! The husband is getting back into the swing of work after the 6 week layoff.

The little found dog's former owners never searched for her as far as I can tell and after seven weeks I am no longer searching for them and I finally feel like she is ours.

We have a moving update... the new plan is to move when our lease is up in November and rent a house there. It's foolish to buy (IMO) without living there for a while anyway and if we have to rent regardless, we might as well rent there and make sure we like it before setting down roots. I will miss the fabulous friends I have made but I guess that's to be expected.

There is also a long story involving a new addition... The kids found a dog, so far we can't find the owner so she is here at least for now. We are calling her Pepper.

And last but not least... my husband has been home since March 16 with no end in sight. This layoff might be the death of me. ;)

She sent me these fuzzy socks and I think they make the most awesome monsters! These are Tooth Fairy Pillow monsters, they have a pocket on the back for the tooth/money and they hang on the doorknob to make the Tooth Fairy's job that much easier.

Huh, that's not that long from now is it? No sir re bob, it is not. Especially when you factor in school, a trip to Texas, husband home times, and a kid birthday all before the expo. So I should have a big pile ready to go right? Um.... yea, about that.




Sigh, not one toy complete. I just can't focus and I don't know why. UGH I'm shortly getting to the point of being royally hosed. Maybe I work best under pressure.

I know, I know!!

I'm still working on a big order. 2 bunnies and the octo are done, I'm almost done with the boy monkey and I have to do a girl monkey. And I had two bunnies to do right before I started this current order.

Once this order is complete I'm going to be making some changes, the biggest is setting up a separate blog for Sole Mate Toys. I'm still debating keeping this blog for my personal stuff or starting a fresh one... laziness will probably win out on that one.

Tomorrow the kids and I start back to school. This year we are doing a more relaxed Well-Trained Mind approach. I've not actually read TWTM but I know I'm doing a lot of stuff they recommend. lol We are only doing 4 day weeks and should only have 3 subjects a day. Hopefully all 3 of us will have more fun this year.

I have a few sock toy ideas rattling around on my mental list to start this week. My top design plans are Shark, T-Rex and I'm working out the last kinks of a Mermaid. :D I need to get a few things made and uploaded to my etsy because I'm all empty over there and that will never do.

I made dh watch Bring It On! for the first time yesterday. *rofl* I love that movie.

A while ago I got a custom order for a poodle. Yes you heard me a POODLE! This was one of the biggest pita things I've ever tried to do. But... honestly I think it might be one of the most amazing things I've ever done. It's pretty freaking awesome. And if you are a faithful reader you know I don't blow my horn all that often and not this loudly. lol

Well I know you want to see her... let the squeeeeeeing commence.

Quickie time...

Just a super fast update. I finished Sara's order with an octopus.


And finished an order of puppies for my friend Blue's twin daughters. I think they came out very cute.


Teagan got invited to a Build-A-Bear "party" @ the mall by a homeschool friend and she "ordered" a bunny for her friend's gift. Which at least saves me $ so thats a bonus. lol I'm kinda worried that is look self promoting or vain to gift my merchandise but thats silly because why the fuck wouldn't you gift what you make if it is appropriate for the person/occasion? There, issue solved. ;-)

I'm working on another order now. The stripped orange bunny, an octo and a bat are going to a fellow podcaster. The fabulous Sara from HowMuchDoWeLove, you MUST go listen to their show and watch the videos. They are adorable.

So back to the socks... A Bat, yes I said bat. Sara asked me if I thought I could make one and I'm always up for a challenge so of course I gave it a whirl. Wanna see it? Of course you do, silly.



Honestly, I adore him. My "first run" of toys can be quite hit or miss and I think this one was a hit. I will be finishing the octo by tomorrow and then I have 2 puppies to do for my friend Blue's twin girls. *love*

I love productive weekends

Well... my own version of being productive that is.

Yesterday my darling husband, dh, made dinner all on his own and I sat on my arse reading and finishing a book. It was 37 by Maria Beaumont and it was total shite!!! Bleh

Today is a loverly, lazy Sunday. I hate time changes as a rule so that goes without saying. Dh took the kids to the park today. They left at 11am and it is now 3:30 and they are still off having fun. I've wired/stuffed 8 bunny ears and 8 mini octo legs, stuffed and closed the bunny crew bodies and now I have to do the nose/mouth embroidery and then attach all the bit together in the next few days.

The dishwasher is running, the kitchen is clean and ready for dinner prep.. steaks on the grill. YUM!

I painted a mini terra cotta pot with a base coat of white. It will become an extra pin cushion for my craft area, once I finish with it. And I actually had time to read a few chapters of a new book. All in all, this has been a pretty awesome day. :D
